Tribes, Alaska Natives rank high on minority biz list


Ten of the top 25 minority-owned government contracts are owned by Alaska Native corporations or tribes, Washington Monthly reports.

Based on figures compiled by Federal Sources Inc., four of the top five companies are corporation or tribal owned. Coming in at number 1 for the second year in a row is Chenega Corp., which brought in $138.7 million in information technology revenues.

S&K Technologies Inc., owned by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of Montana, came in at number 5. S&K reported $57.7 million in IT revenue.

Wyandotte NetTel, owned by the Wyandotte Nation of Oklahoma, was ranked number 10. Wyandotte reported $36.7 million in IT revenue.

Making its first appearance on the list was Shu'dustsing Technologies, owned by the Cedar Band of the Paiutes in Utah. The firm brought in $13.2 million in IT revenue, landing at number 25.
