The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit on Friday against a South Dakota accused of diluting the voting rights of Native Americans.

On behalf of four members of the Yankton Sioux Tribe, the ACLU says Charles Mix County created commission districts that prevent Indian residents from electing a candidate of their choosing. The county's Indian population is about 30 percent but they are divided into separate districts.

The suit is the latest the ACLU has filed involving voting rights. So far, the Indian plaintiffs have won five out of seven cases, with a ruling pending in one case.
