A federal jury convicted a man of voluntary manslaughter for a fatal shooting on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana.

Orville David Morrison, 27, was initially charged with second-degree murder. He was accused of killing William Alvin Wick, 43, in October 2004.

The jury ended up convicting Morrison on the lesser manslaughter charge and on a charge of using a firearm during a crime of violence. Morrison had claimed the shooting was accidental.

Morrison will be sentenced on November 30. He faces a maximum 10 years for voluntary manslaughter and a mandatory 10 years, consecutive to any other sentence, on the firearm charge.
