Bison donated to South Dakota tribe to get checkup

A herd of bison that was donated to the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota will get to see some old friends.

The tribe accepted 100 bison from Catalina Island in California. The animals were descendants of bison that were taken from the Plains more a century ago.

A group called Volunteer Network International will travel to the reservation later this month to check up on the bison, set up medical clinics for the tribe and help tribal youth build a ceremonial house.
