Lawsuit refiled over deadly reservation fire

A non-Indian family refiled a lawsuit against the operators of a tribal casino for the death of a teenage girl in an October 2003 fire.

The family of Ashleigh Roach, 16, claims Harrah's Entertainment and the Rincon Band of Mission Indians contributed to her death. They say Harrah's and the tribe failed to protect Ashleigh from a fire destroyed several southern California reservations and claimed the lives of several people.

The family initially filed the lawsuit last year but were told by a federal judge to exhaust their remedies in tribal court. The family says nothing has happened in the past nine months.
