A hearing is scheduled August 16 in a lawsuit blaming the operators of a tribal casino for the death of a teenage girl.
The family of Ashleigh Roach, 16, claims Harrah's Entertainment and the Rincon Band of Mission Indians contributed to her death. They say Harrah's and the tribe failed to protect Ashleigh from a fire that hit the reservation last October.
The lawsuit was filed in state court but has been transferred to federal court. Harrah's has filed a motion to dismiss.
Separately, the Roach family filed an insurance claim against the tribe.
