Five women from the Alaska Native village of Aniak have settled their lawsuit against the state troopers for nearly $1 million, The Anchorage Daily News reports.
The women filed a civil suit against the Alaska Department of Public Safety for the actions of Daniel L. Scott. They accused him of physical or sexual assault and said he used his position of power to prey on them.
Meanwhile, Scott, 45, has been charged with 11 criminal felonies for the rape, kidnap and assault of four women from Aniak or nearby villages. The trial is set to start August 15.
