"The Bureau of Indian Affairs long has been criticized for sloppy work, and with cause. Now, in a dramatic turnaround, the BIA has rediscovered the rule book. Unfortunately two Connecticut tribes suffer for that.
State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has characterized the BIA as "lawless, dysfunctional and leaderless" as he called for systematic change.
Last week the BIA stunned the Historic Eastern Pequots, the Schaghticokes and anyone who has tracked that agency's record of sloppy work."
