Senate Democrats are considering a deal to end a stalemate with Republicans over some of President Bush's controversial judicial nominees.
According to news reports, Democrats may drop their objections to certain nominees. It is not known whether Democrats will continue to object to Bill Myers for a spot on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Tribes and Indian organizations oppose Myers because they say his record as the Interior Department's former top lawyer failed to respect sovereignty, sacred sites and the trust relationship. Republicans have been considering bringing Myers to a floor vote in hopes of forcing his confirmation.
