Arizona tribe busy with expansion of economy

The Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation of Arizona, a small tribe of 930 members, has been busy diversifying its economy.

The tribe already operates a golf course and will open a new one in 2006. Coming soon is the Radisson Fort McDowell Casino & Resort with 247 rooms, a spa and a 28,000-square-foot conference center. It is set to open on December 1.

The tribe also opened up a $3.2 million RV park that includes a clubhouse, swimming pool and spa. And last year, the tribe purchased the Radisson Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona for $7.9 million.
