A member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation of Oklahoma says his campaign for chairman is going well despite an unusual, but not unprecedented, legal action filed by incumbent Chairman John "Rocky" Barrett.

Leon Bruno is being accused of criminal defamation of character. Barrett filed the complaint in tribal court but Bruno says he is the one who is being threatened.

Previously, Barrett accused a group of tribal members of defamation for information they posted on a website. The case floundered when two different tribal attorneys refused to prosecute the case, leading Barrett to fire them.
