Former assistant secretary Dave Anderson is stepping back into the private sector with a new role at the restaurant chain he founded more than 10 years ago.
Anderson will serve as chairman emeritus of the Famous Dave's of America Inc. organization.
"Dave's vision and passion are the reasons that Famous Dave's has grown from a great concept and a single restaurant to 108 restaurants today," said David Goronkin, president and CEO.
In the new role, Anderson will not have formal responsibilities at the company. Instead, he will serve as its chief spokesperson, mentor and inspiration.
Anderson, a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Ojibwe, resigned as head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs last month in order to pursue opportunities for stimulating economic development in Indian Country.
