Police can't tie man to murders of Indian women

Authorities in Oklahoma have detained a man suspected of being involved with the murders of several women, some of whom were Indian.

Carl Lawson, 32, is a "person of interest" in the killings of at least 10 women along Interstate 40 in Oklahoma and Texas. At least two of the women -- Vickie Helen Anderson and Casey Jo Pipestem -- have been identified as Indian.

Lawson was charged with rape, kidnapping and assault and battery with intent to kill of a woman. Police have yet to link him to the murders of Anderson, Pipestem and the other women, however.

The women had been working as prostitutes along I-40. Pipestem, 19, a member of the Seminole Nation, was beaten and raped before her body was thrown over a bridge in Texas. Anderson, 45, a member of the Creek Nation, was dumped on the side of a road in Texas.

In a separate case, an Oklahoma pimp was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for sending putting Pipestem on the streets.
