Lawyer who defended Mohawks convicted in terror case

A human rights lawyer who once represented the Mohawk Warrior Society was found guilty on all counts of aiding a terrorist.

Lynne F. Stewart was convicted by a federal jury in New York. She had been indicted for passing messages out of jail from Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, a blind Muslim cleric convicted in 1995 for plotting to blow up buildings.

The Mohawk Warrior Society is a group of Mohawks who have been accused of terror-like activities in Canada and on reservations in upstate New York. Another lawyer who worked for the group was indicted by Canada for conspiracy.
