Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff and political consultant Michael Scanlon ran the election campaigns for some candidates of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and sought lucrative contracts when the candidates won, according to documents released last week.

Abramoff and Scanlon traded e-mails that detailed their involvement in the election. According to the documents, their team financed campaigns, wrote speeches, organized candidate sessions and planned schedules.

The lobbyists also ran campaigns for some candidates of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, the documents show. In one e-mail, Abramoff said the pair should target other tribes "which make over $100M (million) a year. � We need to get moving on them."
