Navajo delegate says GOP needs to reach out more

New Mexico is probably the only state to send two Native American delegates to the Republican National Convention in New York City.

One of those is Sharon Clahchischilliage, a member of the Navajo Nation who runs the tribe's Washington, D.C., office. She sees a day when Native participation in the party rivals that of other minority groups.

But so far, Clahchischilliage says the GOP has fallen short. "Everyone sees the potential of the Navajo vote, but the Democrats are the only ones doing anything about it," she told the Associated Press.

Clahchischilliage unsuccessfully ran for state office in New Mexico.
