American Indian Movement activist Russell Means is ready to give up on the Republican Party after Tuesday's poor showing for a GOP candidate.
Indian voters on reservations chose the Democrat, Stephanie Herseth, by wide margins. On the Pine Ridge Reservation, where Means has a home, she won 94 percent of the vote.
Means, who has run as a Libertarian, says the GOP is ignoring Indian voters. He has endorsed Republican John Thune for November's matchup against Sen. Tom Daschle (D) but wonders if it will be worth it.
"The Republican Party is having a hard time, believe it or not; I don't, raising money. So they tell us," Means told KOTA TV.
