A Palm Springs, California, woman is suing the city council over its approval of a development plan affecting land owned by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.
The Section 14 plan calls for retail and other development on a square-mile of land in the city. The tribe does not need approval for the land, which is held in trust, but sought the cooperation of the city and participated in a public notice and comment process for the plan.
Palm Springs resident Jane Smith claims the city failed to address the plan's impact on the water supply. She filed suit earlier this month.
