A school in New York is getting rid of several programs as part of a dispute with the Oneida Nation.
The tribe awards money to schools through its Silver Covenant Chain of Friendship program. The Stockbridge Valley Central School District was supposed to receive $120,000.
But tribal leaders suspended the grant because they say the school has not addressed their concerns over a Native teacher. Monica Antone-Watson, a member of the Mohawk Nation, lives on the Oneida Reservation and is a plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging the tribe's eviction of four families.
The tribe claims Antone-Watson is injecting politics into the school but school officials deny that.
