Oneida Nation families decline offer from tribe
Thursday, November 20, 2003
Four Oneida Nation families asked a federal judge on Wednesday to stop the tribe from evicting them. The families are being evicted from their homes on the reservation. They say they are being targeted for speaking against the tribal leadership, but the tribe says the homes are not safe. As part of negotiations with the tribe, the families say they were offered three months' rent and moving expenses. They refused the offer, saying other families received money to build new homes.
