The Metis Nation of Saskatchewan has filed a lawsuit saying the province has no right to review its internal affairs.
The Metis Nation is seeking more than $410,000 (Canadian) in damages over a report that President Dwayne Roth says is defamatory. The province hired an auditor who said the Nation's recent election was rife with irregularities that could have changed the outcome.
The lawsuit says the province has no right to review the election or to suspend $400,000 in funding.
