Officials with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Idaho said they uncovered financial mismanagement, inappropriate use of e-mail and other problems at the Sho-Ban School.

Their investigation led to the firing of a superintendent and a coordinator. The principal and two teachers also resigned.

The business council said the school was paying teachers on three pay scales even though only one was approved. Some teachers were overpaid and some were underpaid, the council said.

The tribe is asserting control over the school but some students and teachers staged walkouts in protest.
