Teachers at the Sho-Ban School on the Fort Hall Reservation in Idaho staged a walkout last week to protect the tribal council's handling of the school.

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes fired a superintendent and coordinator. Later, the principal and two teachers, including one popular with students, resigned.

Many teachers didn't report for work on Thursday and Friday, causing classes to be canceled. Nancy Murillo, chairperson of the Fort Hall Business Council, said the teachers showed disrespect to the tribe.

Earlier this month, students staged a walkout and marched to the tribal council offices to protest the shakeup. The tribe said it acted due to financial irregularities and inappropriate activity among teachers and administrators at the school.
