Man claims to have seen missing Native girl

A man allegedly assaulted at the home of a five-year-old Native girl claims to have seen her the night she was reported missing.

Tamra Keepness's mother said she last saw her daughter asleep at 11 a.m. on the night of July 5. But Russell Sheepskin, who was staying in the family home, said Tamra was still sleeping there several hours later.

Sometime after that, Sheepskin said he was assaulted by Tamra's stepfather. He said the assault had nothing to do with the altercation.

Tamra's family lives in a predominantly Native part of Regina, Saskatchewan. Police there have focused attention on the family but have not turned up any successful leads.
