The Pala Band of Mission Indians of California is gaining allies for its ballot initiative against a landfill.
The tribe says the Gregory Canyon landfill could contaminate the area's only water source. The landfill is near two sacred sites, Gregory Mountain and Medicine Rock.
A local utility board will meet with the tribe on Monday. The utility director says he will seek a resolution against the landfill.
