The Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island installed two officers to its police force on Thursday at a ceremony attended by local police departments.
Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas said the tribe's relationship with local law enforcement is improving. Last July, state troopers raided the reservation in order to shut down a smoke shop.
The tribe's police force now numbers seven. The force patrols the 1,800-acre reservation.
