The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe of Washington will sign an agreement with state and local officials for the excavation of remains and artifacts at a state construction site.
Work on the Hood Canal Bridge was halted after tribal ancestors were discovered. The state halted work pending further studies.
The agreement the tribe is signing will require a few months of archaeological work. Construction on the bridge will be halted until the project is complete.
