A man from the Crow Reservation in Montana was sentenced to 24 years in prison for shooting and killing his uncle and hurting his estranged girlfriend.

Quinton Birdinground Jr., 24, was convicted by a federal jury of second-degree murder in the slaying of Emerson Pickett, 30. The judge said Birdinground did not show remorse for his crime.

Birdinground shot his uncle, whom he found in an embrace with his estranged girlfriend. He was convicted of assault resulting in serious bodily injury to Leitha Yellowmule, 23, and of of using a firearm in a crime of violence.
