The Stillaguamish Tribe of Washington is running into some opposition over a request to place 10 acres of land into trust.

The property is adjacent to a 20-acre site where the tribe plans to build a casino. The casino site is already in trust.

The Stillaguamish Executive Director Eddie Goodridge Jr. told The Seattle Times the 10 acres would be used as a "buffer" for the casino. But Snohomish County has written the Bureau of Indian Affairs to object.

According to the BIA, trust land acquisitions that impact an existing casino are given more scrutiny. The tribe, however, hasn't begun work on the casino.
