Mohegan Tribe lands entertaiment partner for casino in South Korea

The Mohegan Tribe will be adding a theme park to its $5 billion gaming development in South Korea.

The theme park will be branded by Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the successful Transformers series and the popular films based on Marvel Comics figures.

"We are proud to have Paramount Pictures join us as a strategic partner in the development of our innovative integrated entertainment resort concept," Chairman Kevin Brown said in a press release.

The tribe expects to break ground on the Inspire Integrated Entertainment Resort in May 2019. The initial phase is slated to open in 2022, which is slightly behind the year 2021 debut that was previously projected.

The first phase, expected to cost $1.6 billion, will feature a 15,000-seat indoor entertainment arena, a hotel with more than 1,250 rooms and a foreigners-only casino with 150 gaming tables and 700 slot machines.

The Paramount theme park is expected to open in 2025.

Additional work will bring the investment to $5 billion, according to Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment. Gaming.

The facility will be located at the Incheon International Airport near Seoul, the nation's capital.
