The
Choctaw Nation is once again expanding its flagship casino in Oklahoma.
The
Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant will be seeing another 1,000 hotel rooms and a larger gaming floor, according to a press release. The project also includes new amenities, like conference facilities, a new parking garage, additional retail space, movie theaters, more food and beverage options and a lazy river and pools.
“More than 30 years ago our tribe had the vision to begin this expedition by purchasing the 50 acres that the resort resides on today,” Chief Gary Batton said in the
release. “The property was the starting point for many wonderful things to come for our tribe. We are elated to continue to grow with our community and improve the lives of our tribal and community members. This expansion will help the local economy and meet the demands of our growing customer base.”
Work is expected to begin in spring of 2019 and take about 24 months to complete. The tribe will be adding about 1,000 jobs in the process.
“Tutor Perini is proud to partner with the Choctaw Nation to build this very important project,” Leonard Rejcek, the president and CEO of Tutor Perini’s Building Group, said in a
press release.
The casino in Durant is the largest in the tribe's gaming enterprise. Since its opening in 2006, it has undergone three expansions and renovations.
