Guilty plea for sexual assault at Mashantucket Pequot casino hotel

A New Hampshire man is facing eight years in prison for a sexual assault at the casino owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.

Nicholas Soucy, 25, pleaded guilty to one charge of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of first-degree unlawful restraint, according to records in Connecticut court. He admitted he raped and assaulted another patron at the Foxwoods Casino Resort last October.

Soucy originally had been charged with sexual assault in the first degree, as well as assault in the third degree and breach of peace. The sexual assault charge was reduced as part of a plea deal in which he serve eight years of a 20-year sentence, according to news reports.

Tribal police arrested Soucy almost immediately after the incident.

The case number is KNL-CR17-0339575-T, filed in New London Judicial District Superior Court.
