The
Cowlitz Tribe is offering treatment for gambling addiction, The Columbian reports.
Services will be available at the Cowlitz Tribal Treatment Program, which is based in Vancouver. Funding comes from
ilani, the tribe's gaming facility.
“Compulsive gambling has a serious impact on the physical, emotional and financial health of individuals and their families,” the tribe said in an announcement, The Columbian reported.
The tribe opened ilani in April 2017 after overcoming more than a decade of
legal, regulatory and political challenges. It's located on a portion of a 152-acre reservation that was placed in trust by the
Bureau of Indian Affairs during the Obama administration.
Located in Ridgefield, Washington, ilani is the closest Indian gaming facility to Portland, Oregon. The tribe opened an events center there in April.
The name of the casino, ilani, comes from the Salish word for "sing."
