Seminole Tribe looks to offer sports betting at new Hard Rock facility

The Seminole Tribe might soon offer sports betting at its new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City in New Jersey.

PlayNJ first reported a partnership between the Hard Rock franchise and Bet365, a British firm, to engage in "sports wagering." But the entire deal has yet to be approved by state regulators, The Associated Press said.

"I know we have had quite a few questions over the last month or so in regards to our ability to offer a sportsbook and the answer is 'yes,'" Hard Rock International Chairman Jim Allen said during a press conference for the June 28 grand opening in Atlantic City, PlayNJ reported.

New Jersey was behind the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that opened the door for states and tribes to legalize sports betting Some tribe are already making plans to offer such wagers at their gaming facilities.

The Hard Rock in Atlantic City is a commercial facility so it will follow state law. Sports betting is legal in New Jersey, as is internet gaming.
