The
Mohegan Tribe will debut a convention center at its casino in Connecticut in June.
The $80 million Mohegan Sun Exposition Center offers 125,000 square-feet of open space, a 20,000 square-foot ballroom and additional meeting and function spaces. It's designed to attract
conventions, exhibitions and shows like the Barrett-Jackson Northeast 2018 classic automobile auction, which inaugurates the facility on June 20.
"It’s going to give us an opportunity to attract people, not only from this region but from the United States who have never experienced Mohegan Sun," Ray Pineault, the president and general manager of
Mohegan Sun, told The Norwich Bulletin. "They’re going to come here and experience this area and this region and really help to grow our customer base."
Mohegan Sun hosted the
National Congress of American Indians last summer in its existing meeting space. The new expo center already has 15 events lined up, The New London Day reported.
