The
Osage Nation is making progress on a replacement gaming facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The tribe is spending $150 million on an entirely new
Osage Casino in the city. A topping-off ceremony was held on Monday to place a beam on top of the 66,280-square-foot structure, The Tulsa World reported.
"We do have license tags, we do have a shrinking revenue source from tobacco, but we need these casinos in order to provide essential educational opportunities and health benefits for our people," Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear said at the ceremony, the paper reported. "That's where the money goes."
The project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2018, the paper said.
