The
Seminole Tribe has emerged mostly unscathed from
Hurricane Irma.
The tribe closed some of its gaming facilities and limited operations at others as the storm approached Florida. But only minor damage has been seen at its properties, including one in Tampa that was in the direct path of Irma, according to news reports.
“We’re always proud of our staff, and their enthusiastic commitment to the tribe,” Jim Allen, the chief executive officer of
Seminole Gaming, told The Miami Herald. “But certainly this storm was a new challenge. They not only rose to expectations, they exceeded them.”
The
Miccosukee Tribe kept its
Miccosukee Resort & Gaming open during the storm.
