The
National Indian Gaming Association has named David Bean as its new vice chairman.
Bean, a council member for the
Puyallup Tribe, was sworn into the post on June 20, The Tacoma Weekly reported. He will serve out the remainder of the term of the prior vice chair until the organization's next election in 2018.
“I am almost without words,” Bean told The Tacoma Weekly. “It was a surprise and is an incredible honor to be recognized in this way by the NIGA board.”
The prior vice chair was Kevin Leecy. He apparently had to step down after losing his post as chairman of the
Bois Forte Band of Chippewa Indians in
June 2016.
NIGA, which represents 184 tribes, will hold its election during its 2018 annual conference and trade show.
