The Cherokee Nation is moving forward with plans to move one of its casinos to new location in Oklahoma.

The tribe announced the relocation of the Cherokee Casino Tahlequah back in September 2014. The new site is just a few miles up the road at the Cherokee Springs Plaza, a tribal development that houses several businesses.

The board of Cherokee Nation Businesses, the tribe's economic arm, approved infrastructure and design studies at a meeting on Wednesday, The Tulsa World reported. The project would include some traffic improvements, the paper said.

The tribe operates nine gaming facilities in Oklahoma.
