The tribe shared $307,181.28 with communities affected by the two Ojibwa Casino locations. The payment is based on 2 percent of the net win from slot machines at the facilities.

The payments are made twice a year. The latest amount was only slightly lower than the $316,802.66 distributed during the same time in 2015.

Additionally, the tribe shared $1,228,725.12 with the state of Michigan. That figure is based on 8 percent of the slot machine win.

When combined with the payments made during the first half of the year, the tribe paid a total of $532,447.11 to local communities and $2,108,726.49 to the state in 2016.

The amounts could go up now that the tribe is spending $40 million to upgrade and expand the two casinos.
