Mohegan Tribe starts effort to refinance $1.4B in gaming debts

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut continues efforts to refinance and pay off its gaming debts.

The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority plans to secure $1.4 billion in new credit agreements, according to a press release. The announcement came as offers went out to pay off existing debts.

The tribe operates the Mohegan Sun casino on its reservation in Connecticut and the Mohegan Sun Pocono, a commercial facility in Pennsylvania. The tribe is engaged in Indian gaming projects in Washington and Louisiana and is pursuing another casino in Connecticut in conjunction with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.
