Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association awards $12K in scholarships

The Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association awarded $12,000 in scholarships to six Native students.

Megan Baker (Cherokee), Lane Berrey (Quapaw/Osage), Alec Brand (Cherokee), Aspyn Lankford (Miami), Gabrielle Roman Nose (Cheyenne), and Jared Tahah (Comanche) each received $2,000 from the John Marley Scholarship Fund. The awards were presented at OIGA's recent annual conference.

The John Marley Scholarship Fund was established in 2008, according to a press release posted on Pechanga.net. It is seeded with proceeds from OIGA's annual golf tournament.

A total of 18 scholarships have been awarded since 2008, according to the press release.
