A new Class III gaming compact between the Yankton Sioux Tribe and the state of South Dakota is on its way to approval. The South Dakota Gaming Commission held a hearing on the agreement on Thursday. No one objected so it will be sent to Gov. Dennis Daugaard (R) for his signature, The Mitchell Daily Republic reported. The agreement will enable the tribe to operate up to 500 slot machines at the Fort Randall Casino. That's double the number in a prior agreement. As a concession, the tribe agreed to a limited waiver of sovereign immunity regarding insurance claims, The Daily Republic reported. But the tribe recovered the authority to conduct more background checks on employees, the paper said. Once the agreement is signed by the governor, it can be sent to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for review. Read More on the Story:
