The Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians got some good news last month when the tribe renewed its Class III gaming compact with the state of California. But officials in Amador County remain intent on stopping the long-delayed Buenavue Casino. Despite losing decisions in a string of lawsuits they are actually considering another lawsuit, according to the minutes for the July 12 board of supervisors meeting. The document lists three of the cases that have been filed in the federal and state courts. The county has spent nearly $2 million so far on the litigation, The Amador Ledger-Dispatch reported. "We still have pending litigation in the form of an appeal, and that litigation will continue," county administrative officer Chuck Iley told the paper. The modified compacts do not change that.” The tribe has spent more than a decade on the casino. Plans call for a 71,000 square-foot facility with up to 2,000 slot machines. Get the Story:
