The Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians signed a new Class III gaming compact with the state of California, Gov. Jerry Brown (D) announced on Wednesday. The compact authorizes up to 2,000 slot machines at one gaming facility. It requires the tribe to negotiate an agreement with Amador County before moving forward. The tribe has been trying to open a casino for more than a decade but the county and other opponents have tied the project up in litigation. A series of court decisions have favored the tribe, with the most recent one coming in March. In addition to the compact with the Buena Vista Rancheria, Brown reached new agreements with the Barona Band of Mission Indians and the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians. He also signed a compact amendment for the Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians. Copies of the compacts can be found on the governor's website. Get the Story:
