The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho is asking a county sheriff to stop making arrests at its casino.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office has apparently been arresting people on the gaming floor and in the parking lot of the Clearwater River Casino and Lodge, The Lewiston Tribune reported. The tribe wants the practice to stop out of concern for the safety of its patrons and is also asking that its own officers be present when sheriff deputies come to the facility, the paper said.

The reservation covers approximately two-thirds of the county, according to the sheriff, so the casino is apparently an easy place to find people on outstanding warrants.
