Gaming is benefiting the Navajo Nation and the state of New Mexico. The tribe operates the Northern Edge Navajo Casino and the Fire Rock Navajo Casino in the state. According to the New Mexico Gaming Control Board, those facilities generated $19.3 million in net win in the third quarter of 2015. "'Net Win' is the amount wagered on gaming machines, less the amount paid out in cash and non-cash prizes won on the gaming machines, less State and Tribal Regulatory Fees," the board explains.
> That figure is expected to grow as the tribe converts the Flowing Water Navajo Casino from Class II to Class III and builds a fourth facility in the state. Additionally, the tribe is planning to add a hotel and conference space to the Northern Edge, which just celebrated its fourth birthday.
“We create jobs, we create wages,” Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise CEO Derrick Watchman told The Farmington Daily-Times. Get the Story:Northern Edge Casino marks 4-year anniversary (The Farmington Daily-Times 1/24)
