The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, announced plans to expand its casino in Michigan. Preliminary work has already begun at the Gun Lake Casino in Wayland. Construction will begin this spring as the tribe adds more gaming space, a 300-seat buffet, a larger lounge and entertainment area and a larger employee dining room and lounge to the facility. “We are thrilled to announce the addition of more gaming, entertainment and dining options here at Gun Lake Casino,” said Ed Pigeon, the vice chairman of the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Authority Board, said in a press release. “Guest experience is our number one priority, which is why our expansion will focus on our core entertainment offerings. We also devoted resources to making great career opportunities even better for our team members.” The casino opened in February 2011 amid a legal challenge that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. To protect the facility from the impacts of the Salazar v. Patchak and Carcieri v. Salazar decisions, Congress passed S.1603, the Gun Lake Trust Land Reaffirmation Act, to confirm the trust status of the tribe's reservation. Get the Story:
