Woman faces trial for $25K chip stolen at Mohegan Tribe casino

A woman from New York is headed to trial in connection with a theft that occurred at the casino owned by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut.

Moira Canty, 42, is accused of stealing a $25,000 gaming chip from another patron at the Mohegan Sun. According to news reports, the theft occurred in February.

Canty was offered a plea deal but turned it down, according to news reports. She faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $15,000 fine if convicted of first-degree larceny, The Norwich Bulletin reported.

The chip has since been returned to the rightful owner, The New London Day reported.
