The Navajo Nation is embarking on a major development project next to its flagship casino in Arizona. The Outlook at Glittering Mountain calls for restaurants, stores, hotels, an entertainment pavilion, a cultural center, a bowling alley, a theater and a gas station just west of the Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort in Flagstaff. Plans also include 370 housing units, some of which could be used for gaming employees to cut down on commute times, Flagstaff Business Review reported. “These strategic business expansions solidify Twin Arrows as an economic engine in Northern Arizona and allow us to showcase Navajo art, cuisine and culture to a greater audience,” Derrick Watchman, a tribal member who serves as chief executive officer for the Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise, told FBN.

Supervisors in Coconino County approved the development agreement for the 70-acre site, which will not be placed in trust so the tribe will pay taxes for any activities there. The Navajo Nation Shopping Centers Inc. is overseeing the project. The property will be developed over four phases in the next 10 years, FBN reported. Get the Story:
